Raised in Eastern Europe until the age of twelve, Denisa moved to Massachusetts with her family to start a new life away from the Communist Regime. She attended church as a young girl but it wasn’t until her early twenties that a personal crisis (God’s megaphone) had led to an intimate relationship with Christ Jesus, her personal Lord and Savior.  Today she and her husband are in fellowship at WCF in Waterbury, CT

Early in her walk Denisa felt it was important to serve and thus was led to Starlight Ministries, a homeless outreach/drop-in center in the city of Boston. Becoming familiar with the needs of this population brought an increased awareness of human brokenness.  During this time Denisa worked in a clinical laboratory and while pursuing her education in nursing she began to feel a strong nudge and a pull from God. The Lord had begun to prepare her to live out His will while stretching her faith. After fasting and praying it was clear the Lord was directing a different path.

The verse she was given then and continues to receive from the Lord during life transitions is in Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Denisa joins CCofGW as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and her graduate degree in Social Work with the concentration in older adults and families from Boston College in 2013.

During her studies Denisa worked part-time as a recovery support specialist at a crisis stabilization unit serving a population dealing with myriad of mental health issues and needs.  She became involved and trained to serve in a ministry: Place of Promise in Lowell, MA, a Christian non-profit organization that disciples, trains, and nurtures individuals, including those most hurt and broken, to experience a growing relationship with God.

Some of her post-graduate work includes working for an access agency providing geriatric care management to older adults and individuals with disabilities choosing to age in place. Denisa is knowledgeable in state programs: CT Home Care Program, Community First Choice, Personal Care Assistance and Money Follows the Person.

Prior to joining CCofGW Denisa worked as a hospice social worker providing end-of-life care, having the privilege to sit at the bedside of patients and their families during difficult terminal weans.  Denisa currently serves as a coach at Hope Pregnancy Center in Cheshire, CT where she received training in Pregnancy Crisis through the Christian Association of Christian Counselors.

Denisa’s early family pain has caused a great deal of compassion for the broken and abused. As a therapist she understands the ministry of the Holy Spirit guiding you into all truth (John 16:13), being your Helper, teaching you all things and prompting a memory (John 14:26). Denisa’s strengths are in individual therapy, working with women of all ages.  Grief, anxiety, sexual trauma, domestic violence, substance abuse, codependent relationships, depression, and mood disorders are a special focus.

She uses biblical truths and concepts, seeking God’s will in individual’s life. Narrative therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and other therapy interventions are used based on the individual and their unique situation.
